The KGS Story
The KGS mission is rooted in our heritage
An abundance of curiosity and resourcefulness drew our Alutiiq ancestors to Alaska’s Kodiak Island thousands of years ago.
Koniag was incorporated to manage our people’s land and assets under the 1971 Alaska Native Claims Settlement Act (ANCSA). Koniag Government Services (KGS) was then created as a subsidary of this corporation to bring exceptional services to U.S. government customers.
Inspired by our ancestors, we uphold our community’s values of Planning for the Long Term, Embracing Diversity, Openness, Honesty and Mutual Trust, Hard Work, and Generosity.

We are navigators
We are problem solvers
Our ancestors led the way to an unexplored land and overcame adversity to sustain our people. Over thousands of years of change and challenges, we’ve refined our experiences into deep problem-solving and planning expertise.
These enduring traits sets the KGS team apart. We are resilient and tenacious, qualities we bring to every engagement with our government customers, ensuring outcomes that empower their unique missions.
Our Heritage Drives Our Commitment to Customers
Our culture and history of problem-solving and long-term thinking directly translate into how KGS helps customers tackle ever-evolving challenges to achieve their mission goals.

Open and Honest with Pride in our Work
Our roots come from the small, tightly-knit villages of the Koniag region where neighbors are lifelong friends or family members. We cherish our reputation and the ethical foundation that directs us to work hard and always do what is right.
The act of sharing embodies the Alutiiq cultural values of generosity and selflessness. Community members recognize how background, perspective and skills are all sources of strength.
At KGS, we celebrate the contributions of each team member, knowing that we all play an integral role in supporting the success of our federal government customers.
